Munda Biddi Trail
Stretching 1,045km from Mundaring, near Perth, to Albany on Western Australia’s southern coast, the Munda Biddi Trail is Western Australia’s premier long-distance off-road cycling experience and one of the longest trails of its kind in the world.
Munda Biddi means ‘path through the forest’ in the Noongar Aboriginal language, a fitting name for a journey that winds through beautiful forest and bushland along singletrack, dirt tracks and hundreds of kilometres of disused railway trackbeds.
Nannup sits along this remarkable journey, giving riders the opportunity to experience everything from gentle railway formations and historic timber bridges to rolling farmland and singletrack through towering karri forest.
Trail Highlights
- Jarrahwood to Nannup: Follow singletrack along an old railway trackbed, with gentle grades, few bends and crossings over wooden former railway bridges.
- Nannup to Donnelly River Village: Head south from Nannup through around 20km of hilly farmland on a quiet paved road before entering the karri forest and returning to singletrack. A highlight is a winding 3km section near Willow Springs Campground before arriving at Donnelly River Village.
- Donnelly River Village to Karta Burnu: Descend through more karri forest singletrack before climbing a series of switchbacks towards Karta Burnu hut, set high on a grassy slope with expansive views to the west.
- Karta Burnu to Manjimup: Continue through forest and farmland along gravel roads, bush tracks and old railway trackbeds, with around half of this section on singletrack.
